Levera Project
Levera Bay Project St. Patrick, Grenada, August 8, 2007 Levera Bay area is an exotic location on the northern tip Grenada that is teaming with wildlife and lush vegetation.
Located in the heart of the northern St. Patrick parish, the 360-acre site will feature 250 rooms that are to be completed in various phases. During the first phase of development, a 40-room boutique hotel with villas are to be completed, along with development of a turtle watching program, horseback riding and nature trails in the Levera National Park. Snorkeling and scuba diving in the coral reef, located right off the coast of Levera, are already very popular attractions.
Phase one of this project will promote vacationers to visit Carriacou and the Grenadine Islands because of their close proximity. Funding will also be used to bring local restaurants and attractions at Bathway Beach and the nearby town of Sauteurs up to standard with those offered at the resort. Farmers who are involved in safe organic farming will also receive assistance from this project.
Phase 2
In collaboration with the Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Levera Resort Development Ltd has completed the second phase of its on-going re-vegetation programme at Levera Beach.
In an intensive five-day effort last week, the company planted some 400 trees along the western end of Levera Beach. Varieties included coconut, almond and sea grape, some of which had been donated by the Ministry. The species and locations chosen were carefully planned to continue the Company’s long-term commitment to protecting the beach from erosion and maintaining a safe environment for the nesting sea turtles that visit the area every breeding season.
Project Director Mr Craig Keller said: “The Company has been working closely with the Forestry Department and the Ministry on the rehabilitation of Levera Beach, which we see as a very important long term investment in improving and protecting a valuable environmental resource in the North of the island. We look forward to continued collaboration in the future.”
