Grenada Public Service Credit Union

1947 was the beginning of an era, as PSCCU was one of the first Co-operatives to be registered in Grenada. Grenada Public Service Co-operative Credit Union Limited (PSCCU) was formed when a group of civil servants with extraordinary vision came together in the knowledge that there were many benefits to be gained by pooling their resources. The Grenada Public Service Co-operative Credit Union Limited is a not-for-profit institution which was formed to provide a safe, convenient place for members to save money and to get loans and other financial services at reasonable rate.

Grenada Co-op Bank

It started its account with a mere penny which differentiated it from the other banks and gave it the long standing name “The Penny Bank.” The idea was simply to teach children to save at an early age, and they were issued with passbooks for their birthday, with a penny to start the account.

Co-op Bank still stands today—a Bank that has stood the test of time—one hive built by a few strong bees now continues to multiply symbolizing strength, security and togetherness.

The National Commercial Bank

The National Commercial Bank of Grenada Limited (NCB) was established in October 1979 with the first branch opening in Grenville; a year later the Head Office would be relocated to St. George’s.

In the ensuing decade, NCB would expand its branch network to include  St. George's in March 1980; fishing capital Gouyave in April 1980; Carriacou in June 1981; St. David’s in December 1981; and Grand Anse in May 1990.

In July 1992, the Trinidad and Tobago based, Republic Bank Limited bought 51% of shares in the Bank from the Government of Grenada, effectively providing the perfect platform upon which Republic Bank Limited could afford its cutting-edge products and services to Grenada

RBTT Bank

On June 16, 2008, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) completed its acquisition of RBTT Financial Holdings Limited. The historic transaction created one of the most expansive banking networks in the Caribbean, giving the combined organisation a presence in 18 countries and territories across the region. With more than US$13.7 billion in assets, RBTT and RBC Caribbean operate 130 branches across the Caribbean, with 7,000 employees serving more than 1.6 million clients.

Grenada Building Loan

The Grenada Building & Loan Association has been in existence for 81 years, having been registered on October 7, 1925, under the Building Societies Ordinance 1887. The pioneers of the Association were Messrs Arnold Williamson, R O Williams, F L Gresham and Dr Arnot Steele, all of St. George’s. As far as could be ascertained, the first offices of the Association were located at Young Street, St. George’s at what was then Williamson’s Building, the premises now occupied by the Grenada Marketing and National Importing Board. Subsequently these offices were relocated to Mr. John Renwick’s Building at Church Street, opposite the St. George’s Anglican School, then to its present location, the premises having been purchased from the Mac Leish family.
