Government of Grenada has in place a special programme for the grant of relief to Grenadians
living abroad and wishing to return home.
The Incentive Programme for Returning Nationals is as follows:
- Exemptions are given to nationals who have been living abroad for at least seven years
and are claiming exemptions on personal and household effect for personal use and not for resale
- 100% exemption on all household and personal effects whether new up to ECD$75,000
- 100% exemption on one (1) personal vehicle. If the vehicle is sold before 3 years, the duties
and taxes will be payable on the expired term of the exemption.
- A second vehicle to be used for legitimate business will be granted a 50% exemption.
- Returning nationals will be able to purchase their vehicles locally if they wish to do so.
- New and used tools of trade will be allowed free of all duties and taxes
- Returning nationals desirous of setting up a business will be allowed the usual tax incentives
offered to foreign investors and will be handled by the Grenada Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC)
- A flat Environmental levy of ECD$2000 will be payable on vehicles new and used. In addition to a 5% Customs Service Charge.
- The Customs Service Charge will continue to apply on all imports under this new program at the rate of 5%.
- Items may be imported within three months before or after arrival in Grenada
Persons wishing to apply for the incentives under this program are required to visit the Returning Nationals
Facilitation Bureau situated in the Ministry of Finance. The following documents must be submitted:
- Passport
- Original one way ticket used to return to Grenada
- A list of items which will be shipped to Grenada
- Specification of the any vehicle to be imported
